MoYou London 31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Day 5 Shadows

Hey lacquer ladies,

I'm truly shocked I'm hanging in there for this challenge.  It would be a lie if I said it was easy.  Lol I'm already thinking wouldn't it be nice to take a break for a couple days.  Meh I guess it's fine.  The point of this challenge is to push myself a touch.  In any case here we are at day 5 with the theme of Shadows.   Seriously I struggled with this one.  What to do what to do?  I actually tried a variety of techniques not all of which worked before settling on the idea of using a jelly finish polish to trap my artwork creating a shadow like effect.  Let's see how it panned out.

One thing you can see clearly from these photos is that Essie Marshmallow is definitely no where near a true white.  It's off colored which is fine, but after seeing these photos it made me glad I chose to use a white base first then layer the jelly over it.  I'm actually quite pleased with how these came out.  I love the idea of jelly stamping and it did create the effect I was looking for.  The only thing that bothered me slightly was that the colors were really muted so it might be better to do these manis in greytones rather than true color.

What do you think?  I hope everyone is enjoying this mad dash foray into stamping.  I know I'm running a couple of days behind in my challenges to blog, but I'm ok with that.  Thanks so much for reading and see you next post...

  1. Very creative way to approach "Shadows". I also looked at the theme without a clue but I didn't man up, I passed. Well done and keep up the hard work!

    1. Thanks hun! Yeah this was a tricky one but it could have been interpreted in a lot of ways. As I said in my post I tried several and felt they weren't right before I landed on this. It was a bit frustrating to create though :)
