Hot Off The Stamping Press: MoYou London Steampunk Collection!

Hiya stamp champs,

A little aside before we get started:  Any time I post plates and the word review is not used in the title it is not a review.  Reviews on this blog consist of very detailed breakdown of the plates swatches etc. If you don't know what my reviews look like click here.  Plate announcements are simply that - an announcement of new plates on the market and my opinion of the designs.  Don't like my opinion? Tough cookies this is my blog and I'm entitled to post my sentiments as such.  If you want to post your own opinions or demand I conform to a certain standard by all means please take the time to start your own blog.  I always welcome comments and they don't have to be complimentary, but bear in mind anyone that puts rude/condescending comments on this blog will be blocked.  Now let's get back to our regularly scheduled programming.  - dictated not read the management.

I know I know I know where the f%%k have I been? Lol around working, recovering, getting my life in order.  And in the mean time how many freaking plates have released? Lots some I'm excited about some I'm like meh this has been done (a lot) and others that are like vanilla ice cream.  Let me explain that - classic, sweet, and pretty much timeless.  Hahaha still we all have our favorite brand of vanilla ice cream don't we? Mine happens to be Haagen Dazs Vanilla Bean which is altogether way too delicious epic and yummy.  In any case today I've got the latest full collection from MoYou London. It's gonna be a MYL day since they've released a few plates so stay tuned. For now let's steampunk ;)

Oh boy this nameless mascot is pretty! She feels just a little bit like willy wonka plus vintage paranormal romance so I have some hope for this collection.

Eh....gears lots and lots of them.  I find myself looking at this plate and thinking the clock face on the gothic plate and the festive collection new years plate were better.  I'm not loving this.  Let me add a provision to this statement though.  I'm not a huge steampunker so....yeah.

Better but honestly I have to ask exactly how many iterations of gears is MYL gonna throw at us in this collection.  A few is cute and novel a ton is repetitive and dry.  Yeah I said it.  Don't get me wrong though I like this plate.  Its novel but now after 2 plates of gears I want to see something else...

I'll give this one a pass for enlarging the prior plate for us long nail girls....

This plate is a bit interesting.  Still too many gears but I don't believe I've ever seen images like the ones on this plate especially down the middle row! Well played MYL well played.....

Yeah these images are cool, but please dial down the gears lordy.  And yes I know it's steampunk but to make 7 plates with such similar images.  I have a hard time imagining purchasing the entire collection as I am prone to doing.

This feels really 1920's flapperesque to me.  In fact it looks a bit too much like images produced on the Great Gatsby plate Messy Mansion released earlier this year though I can't remember the exact plate number.  Btw guess who already did a plate released with steampunk images? Lol yeah that's right Messy Mansion.  I'm not going to say anything else ;)

It's pretty for sure there are also enough unique patterns on this plate to justify the purchase so I'll say a strong ending.

What do you think? Any hardcore steam punk stampers out there? This collection is kind a wash for me.  I'd say there are about 2 plates totally that interest me.  I have to say its getting hard out there in stamping land.  Trying to find things that haven't been done before or barring that finding something that's been done but doing it better.  It's tough.  Personally I'm still a novelty trumps all kind of girl.  I have a big collection so I'm not necessarily excited by repeats.  That said these plates are always well made and MYL has a ton of great products so its entirely up to your own preferences.  These plates are already up on the MoYou London website.  Go get em or leave em where they lay.  Happy hunting and I'll see you next post....
