PolishTBH Diagon Alley Collection Part 2 Swatches & Nail Art

I really wanted to bombard you guys with Easter nail art like I did for St. Patrick's Day, but honestly, I have been working all weekend on top of having a horrible cold. In short I have been fairly miserable and dead tired.  Lol not the stuff of holiday making.  However the good news is I have some swatches that I have been working on from the upcoming PolishTBH Diagon Alley 2Collection.  You may recall the Harry Potter themed nail art I did for her 1st Diagon Alley Collection.  Well Chrissy is at it again releasing another Harry Potter inspired collection.  And of course I had to create nail art to fit the theme.  So let's get right to it!
 

Stamping plates: Konad Charming Nails Plate, Apipila P.10 Stamping polish: Mundo de Unas #2 & #30 and Konad SP in Red and Yellow

 King's Cross is a pale pale blue crelly polish.  It's chocked full of red and green flakies as well as white, blue and irridescent holo glitter.  In short is lovely!  King's Cross is the train station where Harry gets his first exposure to magic meets muggle, and where he catches the Howart Express to school on platform 9 3/4.  Apparently this is a polish Chrissy had been envisioning for quite some time when she created the first collection and so here it is at last for all of us to enjoy. 

I had a hard time with this polish initially because as always I have the patience of a toddler.  If you don't want your coats to drag you have to wait a bit before applying the next layer.  It took me 4 coats to reach opacity, but as the layers stacked up the effect was brilliant.  I chose to keep my nail art fairly simple with these swatches so I didn't overwhelm the base.  And I think you'll find the art cute and somewhat instantly recognizable ;)  

Next up is Fainting Fancies.  A melon yellow and pink glitter topper packed into a gold shimmer base.  If you know your Harry Potter lore well you will recalled these treats were sold by George and Fred Weasley the twin trouble makers.  Essentially these were treats designed to make you pass out and then you could skip class.  It sounds like a horrible idea to me because with my luck I would strike my head on a piece of furniture on the way down, but the polish itself is glorious!  It took me by surprise out of the bottle swatching beautifully over a variety of colors.  Because of the shimmer this topper is highly transforming over any color.

Ultimately I chose to pair it with Sinful Colors Baby Blues (which ironically is lavender).  The accent nail was done using Orly Colorblast Tennis Ball Neon which matches the yellow matte glitter in Fainting Fancies perfectly.  This glitter is so perfect for spring.  I kept spinning the bottle to look at all the glitters dancing in the base.  Love this one!

Liquid Sky Lacquer Sleigh Me and Ever Green Christmas Nail Art

Happy holidays lacquer ladies,

Today I'm back with some Liquid Sky Lacquer holiday polishes and Apipila Cosmeticos nail art!  I've actually had the holiday holographic trio by Liquid Sky Lacquer since the end of November, but I haven't had a chance to capture their beauty until just now.  Honestly I think you all know by now I love every single polish Carolyn makes particularly her holographics.  They are intense and gorgeous, but I bet you didn't know that I have been in search of the perfect arterial blood red holographic polish for a very long time.  While I'm still waiting for it I have to admit Sleigh Me is a nice step in the right direction ;)

This mani is pretty straight forward. It was quick and easy with the right amount of Christmas cheer.  I have to say I have neglected this Apipila plate for far to long.  It's probably one of the best Christmas plates I have and to be honest a lot of plates that have come out recently have only just started creating themes that Apipila has been creating for a while now.  It's probably too late to pick up this plate for Christmas mani's but it does also have some New Years themes that might be nice.

Stardust Polish Sweet Pea Holiday Nail Art

Ok for reasons I can't fathom Blogger deleted my original post of this nail art!  I have no freaking clue why, but what a major bummer.  In any event I wanted to put up my last nail art featuring Sweet Pea from Stardust Polish.  This one is absolutely stunning IRL and so pretty I tried not to create art that would crush the light out of the polish.  I think I got the balance just right while staying true to my sense of artistry.  So blogger you better not auto-delete my post this time!

Isn't this polish so pretty?!?  I took the liberty of once again taking my Apipila Cosmeticos plates out for a spin.  I pray my manilouge is right since it was also deleted and I wasn't sure which plate I used

Holloween 2013: PolishTBH Dark & Difficult Times and Thestral Harry Potter Inspired Nail Art

I hope everyone is doing fabulously on this sunny Sunday afternoon!  It's been quite the weekend including some lost nail mail so I'm feeling a bit frustrated, but plodding along fairly steadily all things considered.  Today I've got some gooduns for you ;) I have discovered another great indie brand that takes my breath away - PolishTBH.  Chrissy owner/creator of the brand created a collection that had me from the word go.  The Diagon Alley Collection  is an entire collection inspired by the infamous shopping grounds from the Harry Potter series.  There are 6 delicious shades in the collection 2 of which I will be featuring today along with some kick ass nail art!

Dark and Difficult Times is blueish gray polish that contains a mix of holo black and charcoal glitters and red and green color shifting flakies inspired by the sky in the setting of Harry Potter  It is incredibly beautiful and one of the main reasons I fell in love with this collection!  Though it is known that I have a horrible weakness when it comes to gray polishes.  This little precious flashes fire every time I look down.  It's opaque in 3 careful thin coats.  Because the base is a bit thick thinner coats work best with this polish.

Thestral is a sheer black jelly with crammed with various sized and shaped black matte and holo glitter, lavender hexes and micro silver glitter.  Inspired by that noble race of creatures that could only be seen by those who have viewed death. This polish was actually created by the 7 year old son of PolishTBH and the proceeds will be going to his new Xbox.  How cute!  Cuteness aside this polish is gorgeous!  Opaque again in three thin careful coats.  What's crazy is how complex this polish is.  It changes from angle to angle and has a lot of hidden depth.  Way to go Mikey!

For the nail art I chose to use one of my new sets of plates from the latest collection of Nailways plates called Darker Period - Halloween.  I will do a separate post to review these later.  I also chose to use my newer Apipila plate P.10 which has a several awesome images from Harry Potter.  This manicure literally fell together with ease as a result. I also used a bit of advanced stamping technique here to double stamp which you can see in the lightning bolt and the spider web.

So thoughts? I enjoyed creating Halloween inspired nail art while keeping in mind the nostalgia I love so much about this series of books.  Having done this mani makes me want to read them all over again, but ain't nobody got time for that ;)  You can find the complete Diagon Alley Collection here on the PolishTBH website.  If you buy the whole collection you get a bonus cuticle oil which on top of smelling amazing are phenomenal!
