Essie Fall 2015 Collection Watermarble Nail Art + Tutorial!

Happy Monday,

It's a 3 day weekend - yay!  Today I have some seriously heavy hitting fall inspired nail art for you guys.  It has been forever, and I sincerely mean that, since I have done a watermarble.  I haven't even been doing any behind the scenes.  Usually I'll do one every 2 weeks on a normal schedule or sometimes more or less depending on my mood, but seriously none at all recently.  Then when I was at Target I saw it - Essie's Fall 2015 Collection minus one shade.  And just like that I knew a watermarble was coming.

Aigoo I am so behind schedule! Yesterday I had every intention to post up day 2 from the challenge, but I had an unexpected visit from my mum so that got blown to bits lol!  And today the AIS challenge for a Leafy mani almost stumped me.  I've told my friend Vicky from Boombastic Nails that I still have fails 9 out of 10 times when I go to stamp and today it went exactly like that.  I sort of realized these fails are the result of poor color choice, and so I'm going to be making an effort to make sure I put my stamping colors and base colors together with a bit more care in the future to prevent frustration when the colors don't show up as I've imagined them. Okay so enough rambling...let's get onto the art!

Orly's Buried Alive...wait I have to do this and then I can talk about the color.  "I shall leave you as you left me.  Buried alive...buried alive."  "Kaaaahhhhhhhhnnnnnn!!!! (echoes...echoes).  LOL!!! I'm sorry I had to and yes I'm a huge dork!  Anyway, Orly's Buried Alive looks like it should have debuted in the fall instead of the summer.  It is so rich so rich I knew when I saw the theme for this weekend that it had to be the main color for the mani.  And because I made this choice this is exactly why my first few attempts at this mani resulted in fails.  It's so dark and beautiful holos and lighter colors, even my beloved cG Passion, got sucked into its depths and disappeared never to be seen or heard of again! It took me a while to realize metallics and foils were going to be the only type of finishes that would work on this polish.

I ended up changing the base color of the water marble.

Base colors: Orly Buried Alive (stamping) & Essie Sand Tropez (Marble)

Stamping colors: Color Club Art Club Name Unknown (green), Color Club Antiquated & Hot Like Lava, Essie Good As Gold & Nothing Else Metals, Sally Hansen Snappy Sorbet, and Konad Special Polish in Yellow

Marble colors: Color Club Artsy Crafty, Orly Buried Alive & Night Owl, OPI Big Apple Red & Lemonade Stand By Your Man, and Milani Juicy Glo

Stamping plate: BM04

Holy smokes right?!? So many freaking polishes! In my defense fall is very color rich and so even this amount of polishes doesn't quite cover the spectrum of all the beautiful colors that abound at this time of year.

You may be asking why the water marble?  Well it was a last minute decision.  One of the things I love about marbles is that they very effectively capture the transitions of colors and fall is really all about transition.  So what do you think?  Even though this challenge pushed me and I had multiple fails I'm very happy with the final results.  Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my vintage mani for day two of the LDTTW challenge!  Toodles!

Fall Wallpaper Konadicure

Gomen gomen - I've been gone for a bit, but I'm back with another yummy konadicure! As I said before I love fall because I finally get to break out some of my darker shades of polish.  While OPI's You Don't Know Jacques has been out for several seasons it's still one of my most reached for perennial favorites of the fall.  The color lands somewhere between a chocolate gray mix and into the depths of my lacquer loving heart.  So of course the minute I thought, "I want to create a wallpapery looking manicure" I instantly grabbed up YDKJ for the backdrop.  I decided to use a combination of pastel blue, black, and gold to keep things from getting too dark and ended up falling in love with the final product.  I love how cG Passion adds just the right amount of subtle sheen!  So much that I'd actually really love to have this as real life wallpaper.

Dashica meets Sally Hansen Black Patent

It's my first dark mani of the fall!  Yup - if you follow my YT you'd have seen it's been nothing but brights, brights, brights since spring.  I both hate and love summer because I can break out super saturated colors, but the sweltering temperatures leaves me feeling less than enthusiastic.  So when the fall rolls around I'm so happy because I can rock my fail safe combo - shorts and a hoodie sweatshirt.  Fall comfort at it's best!  It's also the time when I can start bringing out some super duper dark colors such as the most beloved of all my black polishes - Sally Hansen's Black Patent.  This polish is opaque in one, ONE, coat and so shiny and luxe that it has an irreplaceable status in my collection.  I recently put in a huge order at Daschica Beauty that has finally made it's way to me (look out for another post on that later), and could not resist using one of my new plates (SdP A)  for a little stamping action.  I also threw in a Ruffian just for a little contrast using another one of my favorite dark polishes OPI's Lucertainly Look Marvelous.  Check out all the vampy darkness below!
