Literary fans,
Duck and cover because I'm getting ready to burn the library down ;) No not really but I'm so excited for one of my new plates from Messy Mansion! Julia I want to move into your brain and paw around for a while. Seriously I love what you do! In case you haven't read it
here's the interview I did with Julia a few months ago. Now let's get onto the art...
Pre-Burn
Mani-louge
Basecoat / Topcoat: CND Stickey / Essie Matte About You
Basecolor: Elevation Polish Cerro Torre 2 + Streetside NYC
Stamping polish: Konad Special Polish in Black Gold
Stamping plate: Messy Mansion MM24
I wanted to go nude and aged for this look so I used Elevation Polish
Cerro Torre 2 and Streetside NYC to create a saran-wrap nail art base.
This is the first time I've used this technique and I'm pretty happy
with the results. Has anyone else used this method before? Tips and
tricks are always appreciated! I stamped on the various letters from
MM24. From there I created a few circles of black polish and sponged
them out. I then used acetone to "burn out" some portions of the
paper. Finally I mattified the whole thing using Essie Matte About You.
Matte Burnt
As I firmly believe in giving credit where it's due I want to make sure I say I got the idea for these nails after seeing a post on my AIS group. I tracked down the original creator
Glitter Finger Alexa. Click the link to see her original post. Oh and here's a shot of the original EP Cerro Torre 2 that was the base for this nail art.
So thoughts? Which version did you like better - unburnt, glossy burnt, or matte burnt? This turned out so much more awesome than I thought it would! You can find Messy Mansion plates
here. Stalk her on Facebook
here. And because you know I love Elevation Polish and Lulu like woah you can find these polishes on
Big Cartel on the 7th and 22nd of each month at 10PM and 10AM EST respectively. Thanks so much for reading and see you next post!
