Neon Mickey Mouse MyOnline Shop Nail Art

Hey Stamperistas,

It's a Disney themed nail art day! All I can hear in my head is, "Hey Mickey you're so fine you're so fine you blow my mind!" I have been planning this mani since I bought the Jr Plates from MyOnline Shop (you can read about it here).   Plate 05 is wildly innovative and different from any plate I've seen that's themed around Mickey Mouse ever. If you remember it was also the first plate I used from the new collection for my one of my Valentine's Day mani's (here).  Today I did something a little brighter with a punch for spring. I hope you'll like it...

It can basically be said that I am never far from my Orly Baked Collection these days in case you hadn't noticed.  I find myself wondering how I would have pulled off some of the exuberant mani's I've done lately without this collection.  The colors are so intense! Orly Neon Heat was a no brainer, but what you may not know is all the colors of the accent peace sign nails are from the Baked Collection as well except the blue and yellow.  Love love love these polish! What took me by surprise was Zoya Thandie.  This orange is so milky and bright.  The formulation is killer.  I love it when polishes play together like this! 

The Jr plates - fast becoming a dear place in my heart.  I have every single one of them released so far.  They are of superb quality and every time I pick one up a get inspired to create something.  I really hope you liked today's art. Hot Off the Stamping Press: Hipster Collection Expansion!

As you may recall last week MoYou London introduced us to their latest collection - The Hipster Collection.  Which is basically a collection geared toward the indie loving, pop-culture, smart phone, tablet loving nail art enthusiasts out there.  You might recall when I talked about this collection that I noted the numbers were out of sync for the plates introduced leading me to believe we would have more plates coming down the pipelines soon.  And boy does it feel good to have been right on the money ;)

That darn precocious pug is back!

More bearded men and hipster ladies, a few more social media icons, and just all around quirkiness that relates to the hipster motif.  I'm loving the stylized arrow and the fox!

Lol why is the girl only wearing a bra? I cannot imagine stamping that on my nails to create anything that works with the other images, but I love the bow and her hair.  The guys is adorbs! I mean really freaking cute as well as the little fellow in the glasses in the lower right corner.  This plate is probably my favorite of the expansion minus the bra.

Ladies in my Adventures in Stamping group were going crazy over these last two plates.  Plaid, plaid, plaid.  You know I like a good plaid so I also like this plate though I do think it's a LOT of a pattern I wear in bursts and surges during the winter.  Maybe hipsters wear nothing else?

Mmmh again this is a of the same pattern on two different plates even if one is the smaller version with a few extras.  I'd probably pick the first one and live without the second despite the fact that I also feel like when I do that I miss one row of different patterns made for the shorter nail ladies.

So what do you think?  I'm not has gaga for this collection as I was last week, but I still love it! I hope everyone has been having a good weekend! I'm early for Easter and I honestly don't care! Remember when I raved about the new Festive Easter plates releasing from MoYou London (here)?  Well this was the collection that pushed the envelope for me hitting every button I had to push and before I knew it the plates were flowing into my cart and then into my eagerly waiting paws. I couldn't wait to try them, and today is Sunday which means an Adventures in Stamping challenge - pastels.  It's been a while since I've done one of these since I stamp all the time, but here we go...

You might remember my latest foray into Floss Gloss when I did my neon tribal last week (here).  Clearly I'm having a love affair with the brand and today it's  Pony, Moon Baby, and Tanlines. Pony is this pale coral polish that reminded me slightly of Essie Tart Deco and Van d'Go, but is paler than both. The shade is likely universally flattering as I haven't met a coral yet that doesn't look good on all skin tones. This polish frustrated me a little as it was very thick and yet simultaneously streaky.  I would recommend thinning it out which I did and then it played nicely.  It still required 3 coats to even out the streaks.  If the color was any less flawless that might have been a dealbreaker for me.

So what do you think?  Hardly surprising to see a tribal around here these days right? Anyway MoYou London Festive Collection Easter edition plates are every bit as awesome as I expected them to be and then some!  Honestly, I'm so happy I got these and I think they are going to be utterly worth the investment.  The question is will I have time to play with these to my hearts content when I have so many other plates that deserve some TLC?

Busy As A Bee Vivid Lacquer Spring Nail Art

Happy Saturday!  Today I have a light and spring mani for you.  I have been wanting to do a bumble bee inspired mani for a while now and for whatever reason never got around to actually doing one.  I'm not sure why, but after this one I want to try my hand at a few more and I certainly have the plates to do so.  For this mani I relied heavily on my Vivid Lacquer plates and created something that I hope you'll like.

China Glaze Happy Go Lucky is my go to yellow polish.  Opaque in 2 coat and it never ever dries streaky.  I always end up digging for it when I'm doing a mani that needs yellow even for watermarbles.  I wish more yellow polishes were formulated like this one! The floral accent was made with a variety of polishes I dug up from my stash.  I decided not to list them because honestly for one or two flowers I'm not sure if it makes much of a difference.  If anyone is interested in knowing leave a comment below and I'll go ahead and add them in otherwise you could recreate the same look with different colors.

L'Oreal Le Pastille & Sweet Lilac Spots & Dots Nail Art

I have some very simple nail art for you today inspired by the recent spring collection 2014 from L'Oreal.  Every time spring rolls around I will actively seek out the L'Oreal polishes as I think they do an exceptional job every year capturing the colors that I most associate with the springtime.  I wasn't able to find all of the polishes, but the ones I did find were utterly gorgeous so I wanted relatively simple nail art to capture their aesthetic.

Le Pastille is this lavender/gray polish filled with black speckles unsurprisingly given the name.  I love how delicate this polish is given how jam packed it is with black matte glitter.  However because it is so chocked full of lovely in a pale base patience is required during application to reduce drag.  It was opaque in 3 coats.


Sweet Lilac is a straightforward pale pale lavender polish.  It's so delicate and wispy it reminds me of the first buds of cherry blossoms seen around DC which aren't pink but instead almost a pale blushing lavender leaning toward white.  I used this polish to top Le Pastille and using Nail Vinyls created horizontal stripes.  I then accented the stripped nails with color coordinating studs from Pueen Cosmetics.  Finally, I mattified the whole shebang to create the final product.

So what do you think?  This is very simple especially for me.  However, I loved how these polishes looked matte and the contrast of the gray and lavender colors.  This is one of those mani's where I wound up thinking, occasionally simplicity is lovely.  I hope you'll agree.  Thanks so much for reading and see you next post! 

Hot Off The Stamping Press: MoYou London Hipster Collection + Discount Code!!

Ok let's stop for a moment here.  The image of the woman with a foxshaped hat lolol I don't even really know what to say about that.  Except this is hilarious.  I'm not sure how I feel about creating a mani using that image but somehow I think it would be so win!

Oh swag! I'm not sure why there is a stamp with the Helvetica font name in it.  Is that a hipster thing? Also is anyone else seeing the mini sushi and the old school Gameboy? Love!

Ok I might be alone when I say this, but sometimes I wonder why MoYou will start a new collection that would already fit quite well into a pre-existing collection.  For instance, I feel like the Rebel Collection is already pretty hipster-ish.  It would have been easy just to add to that collection since it only contains 3 plates that have similar themes including mustaches of all varieties, comicbook iconography etc.  Don't get me wrong I love these plates and it hardly matters what collection they are in, but I think my brain prefers more straightforward organizing for ease of finding plates when I'm creating nail art.

I love this plate! I mean really really love it! Geometric abstracts and bowler hats?  Yes please! Ok not to sound hype but note this is plate 7 of the collection.  That means we are getting a glimpse with at least 3 more coming soon!

Smaller version of some of the designs above plus a few extras.  I'm always torn when they do this because the smaller version plate often offers a few extra designs that you don't get on the XL version and there are times when this works for me because I don't always rock long nails.  In any case everything about these plates are awesome.  I love this collection I also feel like it sadly reflects a lot of things I love.  Oh pop culture ;)

Floss Gloss Tribal Neon Nail Art

I am so thrilled right now!  You know how there are times you think of idea in you head and then you create it and it falls short of your expectations?  Today was so not that day.  Instead it's a day where my nail art came out so fabulously I want to never ever take it off!  That's the problem with creating something you love when you're a nail art blogger; inevitably you have to move on to chase the next high.  The colors were so bright for this mani that it freaked my camera out a bit so I apologize in advance for my weird skin tone, but I needed to adjust the settings to capture a color accurate photo.

For the nail art I predominantly stuck to using my new Floss Gloss Nail Lacquers.  Floss Gloss is a sleek indie outfit which I feel doesn't quite fit neatly into that category.  For instance if you think about brands like Rescue Beauty Lounge, Cult Nails, and A England these brands seems a bit more mainstream in their packaging and branding.  Floss Gloss has the same ambiance.  I discovered them after seeing a Fast Lane swatch on IG and it was over just like that.  Suddenly these little beauties were flying into my cart.  The only down side is that they are only 0.18 fl oz as compared with the standard 0.5 fl oz polishes that we expect.

Once again I turned to my MoYou London plates to create this nail art.  You can expect more of that from me.  I'm in a deep romance with my MoYou plates right now.  It's hard for me to look elsewhere which is rare.  Explorer 15 in particular is a favorite as it features all kinds of Moari tribal designs, and as someone who lived in New Zealand for over 3 months I can't help but be reminded of the beauty of the culture and the landscape. So as you can imagine MoYou is making me quite happy these days.
