Hot Off The Stamping Press: MoYou London Artist Collection Expansion!

Hey stamp champs!

Lol do you like how I keep finding new ways of addressing you? This provides endless amusement for me and likely just annoys you but I can't help it!  Anyhoo, it's that time of the week again when MoYou London releases a new batch of plates.  This time from the Artist Collection which is much beloved in my plate collection.  This week there are five new plates so let's take a look...

Welcome back Mona the lady with the fierce brush strokes ;)

Where shall I begin?  I've finally realized that for the rest of my existence, meager though it may be, that I am going to have a love/hate relationship with the MoYou London smaller image size plates.  Why? Because while most of these images are old a few here and there are brand spanking new.  Yet the dilemma of stretching these to fit my nails. Ah!

Loving the layered bubbles and tiled abstract here.  Everything else is old...

You all might recall some of these same images from my Geometric manicure that I did for the MoYou London contest. There are a few new images on this plate as well but again most are old.

This plate will actually come in handy.  I have the XL version and the images are so big they don't actually totally fit on the nail.  Plus basically we are in tribal town here and you know I love me some tribals.

This is the only new plate in the entire collection, and for a change I am not excited for a landscape plate.  For some reason the scramble of images here is very unappealing to me.  What do you think? Unfortunately, this week's release isn't very exciting for me since I have a lot of these images already.  However this is great news for those ladies with shorter nails waiting for the smaller images. These plates retail for $4.99 GBP + shipping and will be available  on the MoYou London site Friday.  Don't forget to use the discount code "Tamira10" to save 10% off your next purchase.  Thanks for reading and see you next post...

MoYouLondon 31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Day 1 The Birth of Venus (Art)

Here we go again polished prisoners,

I always feel really ambivalent about 30/31 day nail art challenges.  They are freaking tough! It requires a great deal of stamina and patience and buckets of creativity under a timeline.  In short it's a marathon when I've always been a sprinter.  I've never even done the traditional 31 day nail art challenge because I felt like I couldn't keep up the commitment.  Here's the thing though MoYou London is giving away a new kit that will be releasing in June to 3 winners of this challenge to celebrate their 10,000 followers on Instagram.  The contents will be 6 image plates, 3 polishes, and a stamper and scraper.  I want it desperately. Desperately enough to commit to the long term run of 31 days of nail art.   You can check out the various themes below but the only real requirement is that you use MoYou London plates to fit the theme.

Mani-louge
Basecoat/Topcoat: CND Stickey and Poshe Fast Drying Topcoat
Gradient: Essie Where's My Chauffer and Bikini So Tiny
Stamping polish: Mundo de Unas #2 and #30
Stamping plate: MoYou London Artist Collection 05

This nail art is for the 1st of May and is inspired by the birth of Venus.  I didn't even realize this contest was running until very late today so I busted out this mani.  I feel like if I'd had a bit more time I could have perfected it but overall I'm surprised at how well this came out considering how quickly I put this together.  The detailing on this plate is exquisite and so that made my task significantly easier.

I will have my nails up every day on my Instagram account +/- to the blog.  Eventually everything will make it up to the blog, but in some ways creating a mani is easier than taking photos editing and then creating dialogue + details to go along with the art (which is essentially what it takes to create a blog post).  Everyday will likely destroy me in terms of wanting to do that every day, but when I finish I will at least create a page for my amalgamated art.  Wish me luck darlings! Thanks for reading and see you next post!

World of The Worlds feat MoYou London Artist Collection Nail Art

Hey lacquer ladies,

I'm really loving my new MoYou London plates!  They are even more beautiful and more versatile than I realized.  Today I have a mani I created for their Facebook contest.  It's all kinds of involved and took me an obscene amount of time to put together because I kept changing the base colors, but the final result was well worth the effort.  I should tell you though even as cool as this came out I didn't win any accolades or free plates.  Lol guess I'll have to keep trying!

I can't tell you how much detailing I put in with acrylic paints.  This is advanced technique stamping because I first stamped then filled in my images as I desired and then restamped over those details.  I'm particularly proud of how well the center 2 nails came out.  Believe it or not they were the easiest ones to create the outer two designs nearly killed me.

I had a lot of difficulty creating the space ship.  I changed the base to co behind this polish about a trillion times.  In hindsight I feel as though I should have stamped it on a black base and made it silver after all.  I actually ended up layering with slight crossover silver and black stamps of the space ship in duplicate and then stamping down the lightning bolts.

So I finally took one of the full plate designs out for a spin.  They are not technically difficult to use at all.  You need to be able to pull out the elements of the design in each segment you like and retranslate it onto your nail.  I'm working on a MoYou tutorial right now to show you ladies what I mean when I say that and also that there is nothing wrong with these plates.  For some reason or the other some ladies in my stamping groups and instagram are struggling.  Again I don't get a red penny from MoYou in fact they get all my red pennies, but these are some of the highest quality plates I own! Some of them do however require a little finesse and in all honesty I really believe these plates especially the full image plate ones would be more challenging to the new stamper i.e. someone who hasn't used a variety of plates across many brands using many different polishes.

So thoughts?  This one was a doozy! I'm going to keep working with these plates with the aim of one day winning a design contest.  Honestly the winning design was spectacular! Really beautiful so that gives me something to look forward to.  In any case upward and onward to the next mani.  After the difficulty of this one I'm scaling down a bit for the next few posts just keeping it clean and simple.  Thanks so much for reading and I'll see you next post!
